Viewing cable 07REYKJAVIK308, ICELAND WILL LIKELY ATTEND WIREC 2008
Understanding cables
Every cable message consists of three parts:
- The top box shows each cables unique reference number, when and by whom it originally was sent, and what its initial classification was.
- The middle box contains the header information that is associated with the cable. It includes information about the receiver(s) as well as a general subject.
- The bottom box presents the body of the cable. The opening can contain a more specific subject, references to other cables (browse by origin to find them) or additional comment. This is followed by the main contents of the cable: a summary, a collection of specific topics and a comment section.
To understand the justification used for the classification of each cable, please use this
WikiSource article as reference.

SUBJECT: ICELAND WILL LIKELY ATTEND WIREC 2008
¶1. Officials in the Natural Resource Department at the Icelandic
Ministry for Foreign Affairs conveyed strong interest in attending
Washington International Renewable Energy Conference in March 2008
but were unable to give a confirmed delegation roster this far in
advance. Ambassador engaged Minister of Environment Thorunn
Sveinbjarnadottir directly on October 25 and the Minister said she
would make every effort to attend. The Minister of Industry and his
Director of Energy have also expressed interest in attending.
¶2. Given Iceland's nearly one hundred percent use of renewable
energy for electricity generation and home heating, and their
increasing overseas investment and experience in geothermal energy
projects, we believe that an Icelandic delegation will be an
essential contributor to WIREC.
